Octavian, 44-27 BC. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.68 g, 12 h), a contemporary imitation, after 28 BC. CAEƧAR - COS VI Bare head ot Octavian to right; behind, lituus. Rev. AEGVPTO - CAPTA Nile crocodile standing right with open jaws. Cf. Babelon (Julia) 148, BMC 650, Cohen 2 and RIC 275a (for prototype). CNG E-Auction 316 (2013), 251 (same dies). Gorny & Mosch 142 (2005), 2174 (same dies). A lovely contemporary imitation of this historically important issue. Nearly very fine.
